    Thinking about purchasing a 2007 Seadoo RXT 215 3-Seater....

I am new to PWCs and have been looking online at the various brands and I keep going back to the Seadoos based on overall performance and speed (Fun factor). However, lot's of talk about the ceramic washers, plus this particular Seadoo has 127 hrs on it. The seller is asking $6,900.00

Assuming it is in really good cosmetic shape, is that a fair price? The seller says the engine has "never been touched" but has been "well maintained" which probably equates to oil changes and winterizing.

What are the immmediate things I will need to have maintained/ repaired or updgraded? (any guess on how much that will cost?)

    Thanks!

Ask when the washers were changed, when the s/c was rebuilt. Seems like an awful lot of money but it also depends where you are located.

Pull the SC and see that the washers are all there.

You will need to do a SC rebuild as it's over due. Just short of $400 if you have Jerry do it. New plugs wouldn't hurt.

Last winter I bought a 2006 RXT with 70 hours and a single trailer for $5,600. I thought I got a pretty good deal.

www.nada.com for a good gouge on pricing, $6900 sounds high.

The supercharger is the big item with this year and needs rebuilding by Jerry for around $400. The ski should run 8100 rpm at around 67-69 mph with a GPS, do NOT rely on the dash speed! If it does not run this well, the supercharger washers may have let go, and if so WALK AWAY it will be $3000 + to fix it.

For reference, I bought a 2006 RXT with 40 hours and no supercharger rebuild in May of 2011 for $7k. It was the beginning of the season and it came with a very nice 2 bunk trailer. Since then I've done a couple of oil changes, put $700 into the SC rebuild at a dealership and roughly $300 for a Riva seat cover. I think what you are looking at --- $6900 at the end of the season, no SC rebuild and possibly without a trailer (you didn't mention a trailer) is too high even if the boat is 1 year newer than mine. Also, FYI ... the guy wanted $8k for it at the time but I had a mechanic tell him about the SC rings. It was a significant negotiating issue.

Agree w/ JT about the speed, after the SC rebuild I can touch 67 (via GPS) and 69 on the dash speed.

I am sorry, YES, it does come with a trailor. It looks like used trailers are valued at around $500?? or so I think.

Alot of the forum members mention "Jerry"...where is he located and does $400 include shipping costs? I am in Round Rock, TX area. Thanks for all the info...this is real helpful!

That price is too high anyway. But even if it were lower, I would look for an '08 instead. All '07's had ceramics and you have no way of knowing whether the charger blew at some point. If it did go, you have no way of knowing whether everything was repaired properly. Sometime down the road a sloppy repair could come back to bite you.

I watched for about 2 months and the add for mine popped up. Its worth waiting for those sweet deals. Plus u got some time till next summer. But yeah thats way too high for that RXT. id offer him 5k cash if even that.
